Ministries of the Heart is providing an incredible new workshop on the campus of SCRC: “Celebrate Recovery” for Men.
The Bible clearly states in the book of Romans, chapter 3, verse 23 that “all have sinned.” It is my nature to sin, and it is yours too. None of us are untainted. Because of sin, we’ve all hurt ourselves, we’ve all hurt other people, and others have hurt us. This means each of us need repentance and recovery in order to live our lives the way God intended. What we need is a biblical and balanced program to help people overcome their hurts, habits and hang-ups. Celebrate Recovery is exactly that! Based on the actual words of Jesus rather than psychological theory, Celebrate Recovery is unique, and more effective in helping people change than anything else. These recovery programs are forward-looking, focusing on the future; they emphasizes personal responsibility, helping people face their own poor choices and deal with what they can do something about; and most importantly it emphasizes a spiritual commitment to Jesus Christ. Celebrate Recovery is based on eight steps to recovery as found in Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount. Because these programs are based on Christ, people’s lives will be changed, transformed by the power of God. It is then that we can Celebrate Recovery.
Celebrate Recovery will meet on Monday nights A time of combined worship will start at 7:00 p.m. in the “livingroom” located in the Christian Education Wing, then the men will break out into separate sessions.
