What are Ministries?
A Ministry is an opportunity for you to serve someone else. In the process you give value and service to them, and get value from the service you provide. The Bible teaches that every Christian is called to “full time” Christian service, regardless of his or her vocation. This means that whatever you do, do it for God: Doctor, Janitor, Lawyer, Teacher, Waiter/Waitress, Engineer, Truck Driver, everything! We practice this truth that every follower of Christ is a minister by encouraging every SCRC member to find a place of service and ministry. That place is where God is calling you to serve, and is limited by only your desire, skills and God given passions! The bottom line, is that you are built by God to serve others, and we want to give you that opportunity.
Since we can’t list everything that you do at work, we have provided some examples of ministry at SCRC. To the left are some examples of ways that you can minister at SCRC.
The bible states in the New Living Translation in the book of 1 Peter, chapter 4, verses 10 and 11:
“God has given each of you a gift from his great variety of spiritual gifts. Use them well to serve one another. Do you have the gift of speaking? Then speak as though God himself were speaking through you. Do you have the gift of helping others? Do it with all the strength and energy that God supplies. Then everything you do will bring glory to God through Jesus Christ. All glory and power to him forever and ever! Amen.”
